Drexel

Kip Stewart and Stewart MacDougall were two of Drexel’s finest Mid-Century designers. While Drexel was known for producing exceptionally well-built furniture at an attainable price, the collections designed by Stewart and MacDougall stand above many of the company’s other lines. Their best-known collection Declaration , featured carefully selected walnut veneers with exceptional grain, giving each piece a richer and more refined appearance. The construction quality rivals furniture from manufacturers that often sell for much more, yet Drexel pieces remain relatively affordable today. Although they also designed for other companies, their work for Drexel represents some of the finest values in American Mid-Century furniture. John Van Koert was one of Drexel’s most accomplished Mid-Century designers, known for creating clean, understated furniture with exceptional craftsmanship. His designs balanced modern simplicity with warmth and practicality, resulting in pieces that remain both functional and timeless. While Drexel furniture has remained relatively affordable compared to many other premium American manufacturers, the quality of Van Koert’s work rivals pieces that often sell for significantly more, making it one of the best values in American Mid-Century furniture today.
