Herman Miller is one of the most influential furniture manufacturers in modern design history. Founded in 1905 as the Star Furniture Company and renamed Herman Miller in 1923, the company helped define American mid-century modern furniture through its commitment to innovative design and exceptional quality. Herman Miller partnered with many of the twentieth century’s most celebrated designers, including Gilbert Rohde, George Nelson, Charles and Ray Eames, Alexander Girard, Isamu Noguchi, Robert Propst, Bill Stumpf, and Don Chadwick, producing many of the most iconic furniture designs ever created. Today, Herman Miller remains a leader in residential and commercial furniture and has been part of the MillerKnoll collective since 2021, joining forces with Knoll and several other renowned design brands.
