Paul McCobb
Paul McCobb was one of the most influential American furniture designers of the mid-century era. Known for clean, understated lines, his work often drew inspiration from traditional Shaker furniture while embracing a distinctly modern aesthetic. His designs are light, functional, and timeless, making them as relevant today as when they were first introduced. McCobb designed furniture for a number of manufacturers throughout his career but is best known for his Planner Group collection, produced by the Winchendon Furniture Company. He also created designs for Directional, Calvin Furniture, H. Sacks & Sons, and several other American manufacturers. His furniture ranges from practical, well-designed pieces intended for everyday homes to more refined, higher-end collections. With their smaller scale, thoughtful proportions, and lasting appeal, Paul McCobb’s designs continue to be among the most recognizable and sought-after pieces in American mid-century furniture.
